Vanessa Cooper was born and brought up in Hampshire, and has been painting since her early ‘teens.

She takes her models from nature and from family life-from forests, gardens, pets and children.

There are both deep veins of both sensuality and humour in her work, which enhance their vitality. Often categorised as a ‘naive’ artist, Vanessa works principally in oils and a variety of other mediums, re drawing her composition over and over again to pare down the pictures content to it’s basic elements, “It’s harder to leave things out of a painting than to pile a load of stuff in.”

Sasha Harding at The Art Hut

ImageThe Red Boat

We are very proud to be stockists of one of the country’s best selling artists-Sasha Harding.

All the pieces we stock are limited editions, hand signed by Sasha.

Here’s what Sasha has to say:

“In all my work, I aim to strike a balance between the pensive and the silly, the serious and the absurd, injecting quirkiness and humour in careful measures. The resulting juxtapostitions very much reflect my personality”.

ImageCome on In

Sasha was born in Bath but raised on the south coast in Dorset. One of seven children she was encouraged to paint from an early age and had her first exhibition at the age of fourteen with an older sister in the sitting room at their home.

ImageRockpools

She won an art scholarship to Marlborough College, which was followed by a Diploma and a Fine Art Degree. Influences include the Scottish Colourists and the Newlyn Artists, Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes.

Sasha works with a limited palette of three colours and white to simplify and unify her paintings. Composition and narrative are essential elements of her work, with figures usually included to create narrative.

Image

The Chase

Sasha now lives on the south coast of Cornwall which she finds a stimulating place to work. She is constantly drawing from her surroundings and using the coastal environment as an inspiration for her work.
